What we believe

It is so important to know that we are following the Word of God as He intended.  We dig deeply into His Word in order to plumb the depths of the Truth in its purest meaning.  It is always a journey!

1. The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.  It is the final rule for faith and life, revealing the will of God for all people.

2. The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - co-equal in power and glory, and having the same divine attributes and perfection.

3. God the Father

We believe in God the Father, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, Who is holy, just, loving, and merciful.  He is sovereign over all creation and providentially governs all things according to His will.

4. Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who became fully human while remaining fully divine.  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on a cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory to judge the living and the dead.

5. Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, Who convicts the world of sin, regenerates sinners, and indwells, empowers, guides, and sanctifies believers.  He bestows spiritual gifts for the building up of the Church and the advancement of the Gospel.

6. Satan

We believe Satan is a fallen angel who opposes God and tempts people to sin.  He is the father of lies and deception. He rules over this world and blinds the minds of the unbelievers.  He has been defeated by Christ and his final fate is to be cast in the lake of fire.

7. Humanity

We believe that all people are created in the image of God but are separated from Him by sin.  As a result, all are under condemnation and in need of salvation through Jesus Christ.

8. Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.  It is not earned by works but is a gift of God.  Those who repent and believe in Jesus Christ are justified, adopted into God's family, and given eternal life.

9. The Church

We believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, composed of all true believers.  The local church is a visible expression of this body, called to worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and mission.

10. The Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church.
Baptism:  A public declaration of faith, done in obedience, symbolizing the believer's union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
The Lord's Supper:  A memorial of Christ's death and a celebration of His presence and resurrection, to be observed regularly by believers.

11. The Return of Christ

We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ.  He will establish His kingdom, judge the world in righteousness, and bring final redemption to His people.

12. Eternal Destiny

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: the saved to eternal life in the presence of God, and the lost to eternal separation from God.
